After this he went back to Leeds advertised for his wife and rejoined her, she I remember lived in a very smelly street next to the New Wortley gasworks where my father worked, An uncle told me this when I visited him but got no other info. What a dumb Dora I am, he  probably joined the army under another name ,  so as Sgt Shuts says in Hogans Heroes I know nuffin, where do I go for help  PLEASE. can you help.

It documents his last year at school in Leeds following his fathers' death on 10/12/18. His Auntie may have owned some property locally and he collected rents for her.

I am descended from Thomas Stephens [son of Richard Stephens]. Thomas was born about 1802 in Croyden Surrey;died 23 Jan 1880 in Leeds. His spouse, Ann Bramham was born on Hunslet Lane about 1805 and died in 1849. She is buried in Woodhouse Cemetery now located behind the Univ. of Leeds. Their son, Thomas George Stephens was born 19 August 1838 in Leeds SE and was one at least 8 children of Thomas and Ann. Thomas George Stephens married Ellen Middleton, following Ann's death in 1849.
Ellen died in Dec. 1887 and is also buried in Woodhouse Cemetery next to Thomas who died in 1880.
Thomas George Stephens was raised in Leeds, married Mary Chalmers and had at least 7 children[Thomas G, Hawthorne, Herbert, Fanny, Catherine, Richard Betts and Francis Betts Stephens [my grandfather]. They moved to Buckingham in the mid 1870's, but Thomas George and Mary returned to Leeds, and lived in the Round Hay area where he died in 1893. His wife, Mary continued to live in Leeds until she died about 1926.

Stokehill 1800-1970 All around Leeds Valerie Freeman I know the family graves in New Wortley cemetry, I have the receipts for their purchases made by my Gt.Gt.Grandfather, Thomas Stokehill. The Stokehills were undertakers for three generations and worked from Oak Road and Armley Road. My interest would be if a list of how many funerals they had conducted could be made available, is this information ever known or published?
