Rooke 1800 and earlier England...Cornwall area? Ms Lancaster I am looking for information about the Rooke family who owned a number of breweries. I know of Charles Rooke who married Helga Olga. It would probably be Charles' parents and grandparents who owned the breweries. Charles and Helga lived in Saskatchewan in the 1920's, and later moved to the West Coast.

Woodhouse, Wortley, Stanningley, Bramley Alison Stefan I am looking for records of my Great Grandfather, Arthur William Rothery.
He was born in 1879 (some records say 1880) in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. His parents were Arthur William Rothery (b. 1853, d. 1902) and Mary Sigston (b. 1846) He fought with the Hussars in the Boar War. In 1904 he married Beatrice College (b. 1879, d. 1920), they had 3 daughters Beatice Mary, Alice Irene (my Grandmother) and Eva.
After this he left his family and I have been unable to find any record of him in a census after 1881, or a record of his death. If anyone has any information, or suggestion of where to look next then I would be very grateful.

census. My main interest is in his daughter Mary Ellen RUSHFORTH, born
Wortley about 1872, she had illegitimate twin girls Amy & Ada Appleyard

in Beeston 1892, the father a Mr. APPLEYARD, a solicitors clerk.

The twins immigrated to Australia when they were about 17 years old but
the family don't know if they travelled here alone or perhaps with a
newly married mother, so under a different surname.

Russell 1850-1920 Wortley Julie Wade Mary Jane Russell and her husband Robert Henry Wade left Leeds for Adelaide, Australia in c1879. Mary died in November 1882 (27 yo). Robert was a brickmaker/potter. See also WADE.
