Oldroyd 1840 Leeds & Dewsbury Jonathan I am an Oldroyd and for some time from British Columbia, Canada, I have been trying to trace the parents of my great grandfather William Robert Oldroyd, born June 16, 1840 who is the first son of John and Mary Oldroyd who were living in Little London, Leeds in 1840. I believe their marriage to be recorded in the Dewsbury parish records for December ,1840.

Because of various clippings kept by my grandmother, we believe that John may have been an older brother of Sir Mark Oldroyd and the second son of Mark and Rachel Oldroyd of Spinkwell, Dewsbury. There were also two sisters of John whose first names are unknown.

Jonathan

Oliver WWII Ballykinler Army Camp, Co. Down, Northern Ireland
David A Chambers Bert Oliver became friendly with my parents when he was training with a tank regiment at Ballykinler during WWII. He wrote for some time, then the letters stopped. He is not listed by the CWGC, so I presume he survived the war. In the 1950's my parents tried contacting the War Office, but as they were not a relation no information was given to them. I was born in 1943, so Bert would not know about me. For my late parents' sake I would like to find out what happened to Bert.
